Twenty-five thousand cases of Kendamil First Infant Formula with Iron from Global Kosher will be shipped immediately.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a shipment of more than 8.5 million pounds of kosher baby formula from the United Kingdom as officials attempt to increase imports from other countries.
More than 4.8 million cans of Kosher Infant Formula with Iron will be shipped to the United States over several months to alleviate the suffering of parents and caregivers who have been unable to feed their children due to a nationwide shortage of baby formula.
According to the FDA, the company will immediately ship 25,000 cases, or 150,000 cans, followed by another 200,000 cases per month, or 1.2 million cans.

While the country was still dealing with the ongoing shortage, the FDA announced in May that it was streamlining its review process to make it easier for foreign manufacturers to begin shipping more baby formula into the country.
According to the most recent data, the out-of-stock rate for baby formula products increased to more than 73 percent nationwide on May 29.
By the end of May, the nationwide out-of-stock rate for baby formula had increased to more than 73%. “The agency is leveraging several flexibilities to bolster the supply of products that serve as the sole source of nutrition for many infants while ensuring the infant formula can be used safely and provides adequate nutrition.” the FDA said
Meanwhile, last week’s major storm forced Abbott Nutrition to halt production at its Michigan baby formula factory.
The facility reopened on June 4 after being closed for several months due to contamination issues.
Production and distribution are expected to be delayed for a few weeks while the plant is cleared.
